Dear Aupair,

We are a family with 3 children (1 boy and 2 girls) living in Wimbledon, London.  The children are bright, enthusiastic and have had nannies and au pairs of different nationalities over the years so enjoy meeting people from different cultures. They enjoy playing games, going to the park, swimming, cycling, ballet, gymnastics, girl guides and arts and crafts. Our family is relaxed and informal and we try to create an inclusive and fun filled environment.

We are looking for our next an au pair who would like to come and be a part of our family and to help our children continue to develop and grow.

We live in a house with a garden which is a minute walk from the District Line tube station. Wimbledon is well served by public transport; there is a choice of train, tube, bus and tram to most parts of London. For example, it takes 30 minutes on the tube to get to Oxford Circus or Victoria Central London.

There are a number of parks close by. Wimbledon Park (5 minute walk) has 2 playgrounds, a lake, athletics track, large green open space, crazy golf, beach volleyball nets and tennis courts. There are plenty of language schools in Wimbledon and lots of other au pairs in the area to socialise with.

We have plenty of shops within a few minutes walking distance from the house including a supermarket, post office, nail bar, newsagents, chemist, hairdressers, dry cleaners and gym.

We live in a spacious, 5 bedroom house set on 3 floors. You will have your own floor, which has two double bedrooms and bathroom. Our eldest daughter has one of these bedrooms, the other bedroom will be yours.

In your ‘double bedroom’ there is a double bed (with under bed draws), a wardrobe, chest of draws, long mirror and desk. There is also wifi, freeview TV and a DVD player and Netflix in your bedroom.

We very much want our au pair to feel a part of our family but also feel they can have their own space in the evening should they so wish.

The Daily Routine

Each day, the children have breakfast around 7.45am before the oldest two children take themselves to school each day. Our youngest daughter walks to the school with the au pair at 8.30am. The walk takes about 15 minutes.

The oldest two children usually return home late afternoon and our youngest daughter is collected by the au pair from her school at 3.30pm and walks home, which takes about 15 minutes (unless she is on her scooter in which case it’s a bit faster!)

Dependent on the day, our youngest daughter has after school clubs which are all local and the au pair takes her to and from the clubs. If there is no after school club, our daughter does her homework with the au pair’s guidance.

In the evening (around 6pm), the children all sit down to a simple meal which we would like you to prepare. Some examples include omelette, salad, spaghetti etc.

We arrive home at 7pm to help you finish the evening meal before we put them to bed around 8pm.

We usually have our own dinner around 8.00pm to 8.30pm. You are very welcome to join us, or if you prefer can eat either with the children or at a time that better suits you.

Expectations

Your primary task is to look after our children ensuring they are safe, secure and happy, providing before and after school care.

From Monday to Friday, we ask for 25 hours per week for:

MORNING: 7.45am to 9.00am
AFTERNOON: 3.30pm to 7.00pm

We will also ask you to babysit for one to two evenings per week. We will not require you to work in the weekends except for occasional babysitting on a Saturday evening which we will agree with you in advance.

Your other tasks will include helping with minor household duties, such as:

1. Keeping the children’s rooms and bathroom clean, tidy and organised.
2. Doing some children’s ironing.
3. Preparing children’s meals after school.
4. Keeping the house ticking over (helping to empty the dishwasher, tidying things away, popping to the local shops, clearing up after yourself etc)
5. Keeping your own bedroom and bathroom clean and tidy.
